What should I do to prepare for a wax?
For most body parts, you should stop shaving for at least two weeks for most areas. Underarms seem to be the exception with a week and a half being acceptable in most cases. In general you want to make sure the hair length ranges from ¼ inch to ½ inch.
Exfoliation followed by moisturizer during your grow out will help your comfort and help your wax. If you are waxing a large body area, such as the legs, be sure to exfoliate lightly 24 hours prior to your appointment time. This allows the hairs hidden underneath the skin to pop up for the best wax. NO HARSH EXFOLIATION IMMEDIATELY PRIOR TO WAXING.
Some people find taking a couple of Advil 30 minutes prior to treatment helps with the pain during the service. Advil also helps to reduce any post wax inflammation of the skin.
In extreme circumstances, you maybe advised to take a histamine blocker prior to your appointment. Consult with your esthetician if your post wax reaction lasts longer than 24 hours. You may be a candidate for this precaution.
Does waxing hurt?
Put simply, yes. Depending on the area there are a variety of types of discomfort. Fortunately, the pain is temporary and I do all that is possible to minimize the discomfort.
Most people confess afterwards that the pain was much less than they anticipated. With this said, it is highly more likely that you will imagine a greater pain than what will actually occur. Luckily the process is over very quickly too.
I do not want my brows too thin!
Each set of brows are customized to your natural brow and bone structure. My brow styles range from extremely angular, soft angular, slightly rounded, to long and wide. What style you receive is purely based on what your brows and your facial structure will allow. Of course your input is always appreciated. If you rather have a more natural look or need to grow areas in, I can accommodate any reasonable request.
What is a Brazilian Wax?
A Brazilian Wax is the removal of all hair from the bikini area, front to back. Brazilians of course can be modified to leave some hair if desired. Typically this style is referred to as a landing strip. Speak with your esthetician to determine the best style for you.
How do I maintain my waxed area?
It’s a good habit, even without waxing, to exfoliate. Exfoliation sloughs off dead dry skin cells and makes way for new living cells. In terms of waxing, it allows the new hairs to grow through the skin and not get caught beneath the dead layers. By exfoliating your doing your part to prevent ingrown hairs to develop.
Sometimes ingrown hairs are not appeased by simple exfoliation; rather they need a topical product to help clean out the pores. Most cleansers with 2% salicylic acid are a great partner to use with your scrub device.
Consult with your esthetician for more detailed suggestions.
What is Vajazzle?
Vajazzling is an application of swarovski crystals to the bare skin on the front of the pelvic area using body glue. The crystals vary in color and are aligned to create different fun shapes like: hearts, starbursts, and lightening. (Click the thumbnail to enlarge.)
The Vajazzle last anywhere from 3-8 days depending on how the area is cared for. There should be no itching, nor should there be any discomfort while wearing the crystals.
How do I care for my Vajazzle?
It’s easy! Be delicate with the area and use a gentle cleanser. Try not to wear extremely tight clothing since friction can knock them off. You may also want to avoid using any oils or heavy creams in the area since this can breakdown the adhesive. You may remove the crystals at anytime or reapply the crystals with eyelash glue.
